2009 has been quite a year for us here at Paya. As if the worldwide economic contraction wasn't challenge enough, our folkloric politicians in Tegucigalpa decided to plunge Honduras into one of the worst political crises in decades. Despite all the challenges, however, we continued to work very hard on our project of making Paya Bay one of the most beautiful and blissful places on earth. In this edition of the Good Energy Newsletter, we highlight our many accomplishments (so far!) in 2009.

About the political crisis. On October 29, an agreement was signed to effectively bring an end to the political standoff in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. The U.S., E.U., and several other relevant world governments have agreed to recognize the leaders that emerge from our upcoming November 29 elections. It seems the country has for the most part emerged into beautiful daylight, after floundering about in a dark tunnel of uncertainty for several months. We Hondurans are very fortunate, as ultimately things went quite well for us. Our democracy has been preserved and the peace that the vast majority of Hondurans desire has been maintained.

Since the situation became so bleak these past few months, we expect that things can only improve from here. We expect 2010 to be a rocking year for our country, for the Bay Islands, and for Paya Bay. We invite you to come visit us. Come help us celebrate our democracy and our freedom that every patriotic Honduran in his or her own way fought very hard to maintain.
