The Ultimate Honduras package is one not to be missed
by any world traveler. This offers the history and intrigue of Honduras,
it's culture and it's Mayan civilization. Your journey starts in Roatan
where a Paya Bay representative will meet and transfer you to the east
end of the island to our tropical paradise. Your 6 night stay here will
allow you to scuba dive or snorkel the 2nd largest barrier reef, lay out
and relax on either of our two beaches and enjoy the charm and warmth
of a boutique hotel. With only 10 rooms you know you will not be lost
in a crowd. After your 6th night at Paya Bay Resort you will fly over
to the city of San Pedro Sula in midland Honduras. Here your expert guide
from Maya Temple Tours will meet you at the airport, load your luggage
and drive you up to the colonial village of Copan near the Guatemalan
border. Copan is the Mayan gem of Central America and a UNESCO Wold Heritage
Site. While
in Copan you will stay at the intimate and beautiful Plaza Copan Hotel
which offers the best views of the central park. The village of Copan
is an attraction in and of itself. Featuring amazing restaurants and bars,
friendly locals, archeologists both domestic and foreign, and beautiful
cobble stone streets. Your second day there will take you to the Main
Ruins Archeological Park and the Ceramic Museum. Your personal guide explaining
everything to you along the way and maybe the chance to venture inside
one of the temples through underground tunnels. The third day you will
explore Las Sepulturas Archeological Site for a glimpse into the current
excavation of the homes of the higher class priests and scribes of this
ancient civilization. Finally on your way back to San Pedro Sula a stop
at Macaw Mountain Bird Park. The bird park, set on 9 acres of old-growth
forest, offers chances for up close viewings of some of Honduras' distinctive
birds. The next two nights you will be staying at the Intercontinental
San Pedro Sula. San Pedro Sula is one of Honduras' major cities and played
an important role during the old "banana republic" days. Here your guide
will take you to the arts and crafts marketplace for a chance to barter
for those unique gifts. Next you will visit a mahogany wood carving factory
and ultimately a backstage tour of a working banana plantation. To experience
the culture, warmth and intrigue of Honduras and it's Bay Islands, Paya
Bay's exclusive Ultimate Honduras package is a must see.
