Weather and Dress

What You Can Expect Weatherwise
Temperatures range between 75 to 90 F (24 to 34 C). The green season, characterized by showers followed by several hours of sunshine, is mid-October to January.

Here is current temperature information for Roatan. Note, however, that this weather report tends to be inaccurate as we have noticed that when it reports rain it is, in fact, sunny here on the island.

How to Dress
Dress at Paya Bay is casual. Cool light-colored cottons are recommended. Flip-flops, comfy shoes, and/or tennis shoes all work great.
We highly recommend you pack a carry-on with essential items to bring with you on the plane. While it doesn't happen often, luggage sometimes does get lost in transit and may take a day or two to arrive at the resort. You wouldn't want a lost bag to interfere with your dive vacation. We suggest the following items
  • Passport and needed diving equipment
  • Prescription Medications
  • Toiletries (especially a a toothbrush and toothpaste)
  • Camera/Film
  • Personal Items
  • Travelers Checks
  • Change of Clothing
  • Swimsuit
Other Items to Bring
  • Sunscreen
  • Sunglasses / hat
  • Insect repellent
  • Beach towel
  • Binoculars
  • Batteries
PLEASE IDENTIFY ALL YOUR LUGGAGE! The airlines suggest that you put your name and contact information on both the outside and inside of your bags.

When checking luggage to Roatan verify that your luggage has been tagged RTB. Do not lose the claim tickets as these are requested in customs at the Roatan airport.

Enjoy the best of Roatan's world-class scuba diving. Great visibility, healthy corals and sponges, drop-offs and canyons, dramatic walls, a rainbow of fishlife, and large animals.
